Summer Wedding In North Hero Island, Vermont

Wednesday, August 29th, 2012

Today’s summer wedding is a peach, pink, coral, yellow and white color combo for a lovely bride named Summer and her groom, Eric.  It was also a big day for their beautiful daughter who got to be a flower girl!  This was a destination wedding for the couple, however, they wanted something that felt easy and low key.  It was an incredible day on the shores of Lake Champlain for their weekend at Shore Acres in North Hero Island, Vermont.

The bride carried a bouquet of peach & coral roses with pink ranunculus, yellow roses, white & yellow spray roses, freesia and lisianthus.

The bouquet was finished with a band of green silk dupioni ribbon.

The wedding guests sat at one large table with eclectic bottles filled with fresh blooms.

One of my favorite details from the day are these linens from Anthropologie.  I thought they were vintage when I saw them.  So sweet.

Maple syrup with maple leaf cookie cutters made a nice favor table display.

Pinwheels pointed guests to their seats.

The day was spectacularly clear and sunny despite a prediction of rain in the forecast.

Congratulations to Summer and Eric!…and Madeline, too!  An intimate wedding with thoughtful details on the shores of Lake Champlain sounds pretty perfect to me.

July Wedding at Shelburne Farms

Wednesday, August 8th, 2012

Carly and Charlie (do you love how that sounds as much as I do?) were married in Shelburne with a reception at The Coach Barn at Shelburne Farms this July.  There is something to be said for planning your wedding and being somewhat laid back about the details that others can get bogged down by…Carly was as trusting as a bride can be about letting me bring her “casual, wildflower feel” to life.  This couple had fun with the table numbers (they used different football players’ names in personalized frames!) and even had an arcade game for guests to practice their hunting skills on “Big Buck”.  I bet their guests got a kick out of that!

The bride’s bouquet featured yellow dahlias, mini green hydrangea, yellow, orange & white ranunculus, fresh mint and bupleurum.

The bridesmaids wore black dresses (beautiful, summery black dresses!) and carried bouquets that featured yellow roses.

Centerpieces in mason jars were filled with snapdragons, ranunculus, dahlias, freesia, roses, cottage yarrow and crespedia for a fresh-from-the-field wildflower feeling.

A wooden sap bucket greeted guests as they entered the coach barn.

Seating cards stamped with either a chicken, fish or carrot pointed guests in the right direction.

On a bright sunny day the Coach Barn was filled with light.

A little color in the courtyard welcomes guests.

Here is one more shot of the attendants’ bouquets all boxed up for delivery.  Love those yellow roses.

Congratulations to Carly and Charlie!  I often think about how exciting it must be for guests to visit Shelburne Farms for the first time as they drive down the road past the Dairy Barn, past the sheep and cows in the pasture, catching glimpses of Lake Champlain along the way and finally arriving on the shore of the lake on such a magnificent day.  Vermont at its finest.
