Colorful Wedding At Basin Harbor Club

Thursday, September 22nd, 2011

It was another absolutely perfect Vermont day for Darcie and Kyle’s wedding at Basin Harbor Club.  A clear, sunny September sky and the perfect temperature made for a fantastic outdoor setting.  The style for their wedding was seasonal, natural and colorful with multicolored bouquets and rustic wooden boxes for the centerpieces.

The bride carried a bouquet of burgundy and orange dahlias, deep pink and red ranunculus, yellow freesia, orange spray roses, pink godetia, dianthus and deep blue delphinium.

Her six bridesmaids carried similar bouquets of red and orange spray roses, dianthus, dahlias, freesia, godetia and delphinium.

Color.  You’ve got to just love color.  It makes the transition from summer to fall feel so right!

The ceremony took place under the wedding arch adorned with a garland of Asiatic lilies, burgundy dahlias, green hydrangea, spray roses, delphinium and dianthus.

Cocktail hour by the lake looks so relaxing.

Centerpieces were designed in rustic wooden boxes filled with lilies, hydrangea, delphinium, dahlias, godetia and spray roses.

Darcie and Kyle are the first couple I’ve had who made a donation to VT Irene Flood Relief for their favors.

The tables were marked with animal paintings instead of numbers which were painted by the bride’s brother.  They were absolutely beautiful and so unique!  The elephants were just one of my favorites.

Darcie and Kyle are a local, Vermont couple who put a fun spin on their wedding day including a gumball machine of mint candies that reminded them of the restaurant where they met as co-workers.  (So sweet, right?!)  Congratulations on your beautiful wedding day!  You had a relaxed, casual approach to planning and were a pleasure to work with.  I hope your day was perfect in every way!

Wildflower Wedding At The Inn At The Round Barn

Tuesday, September 13th, 2011

Alyson and Don’s wedding at The Inn at the Round Barn took place on the most perfect September day in Vermont.  The style for their wedding was a local vibe with rustic, gardeny elements and handmade details.  The palette was bright and colorful for a fun, seasonal feeling.

The bride wanted a wildflower feeling for her bouquet which included hydrangea, magenta stock, dahlias, delphinium, purple lisianthus, orange ranunculus, rudbekia (aka black-eyed-susans), freesia and fresh mint.

Her 9 attendants wore Spiced Wine dresses from J. Crew and carried slightly smaller bouquets of stock, delphinium, hydrangea, spray roses, lisianthus and orange dahlias.

The flower girl carried a small birch basket to match the girls.

Their ceremony took place by the pond with sap buckets on each side of the “altar” filled with purple gladiolus, blue delphinium, orange snapdragons, green hydrangea, magenta stock, yellow Asiatic lilies and sunflowers .

Centerpieces designed in mini-sap buckets were filled with fresh mint, snapdragons, delphinium, stock, ranunculus, dahlias, tulips, lilies and hydrangea for an eclectic, end-of-summer feeling.

The couple lived in Spain for a while and are wine lovers so table numbers sewn onto wine bottles wrapped in burlap sacks pointed guests in the right direction.  Small mason jars with votive candles completed the tablescape.

Their DIY placecard display had a rustic, homemade style.

A few floral accents finished the display.

Here’s one more look at the colorful bride’s bouquet.

Congratulations to Alyson and Don on what turned out to be a fantastic day for a wedding!  I’m so glad your world travels brought you back home to Vermont for your wedding celebration with family and friends.  Your handcrafted details and relaxed style made for a truly beautiful event.  I look forward to seeing photos of your smiling faces from Birke Photography.

Orange And Blue Flowers At Grand Isle Lake House

Thursday, September 8th, 2011

I usually post one wedding per week during my busy season, but I’ve got a twofer for ya this week.  On Tuesday I shared a blue and white wedding and today I’ve got some orange and blue blooms to brighten your Thursday.  We had two blue weddings in two weeks and the next two weeks also include some blue flowers…it’s kinda my “blue period” this year.

Jacquelyn and Jeremy’s ”orange & blueberry” colored wedding took place over Labor Day weekend at Grand Isle Lake House.  You may have seen me bragging about my super talented couple’s DIY save-the-dates which were made by the groom.  Their overall style was a vintage, ’40′s-esque, travel theme with orange and blue tones represented throughout the day.

First, I’ve got a couple shots of the bridal bouquet.  The bride carried an orange and white bouquet with a few blue accent tones including orange callas, white and orange dahlias, ranunculus, freesia, crocosmia, thistle and delphinium.

I love an orange and white flower combo and the touches of blue really complement them nicely.

Her four attendants carried slightly smaller bouquets of dahlias, callas, freesia, ranunculus and spray roses with crocosmia and thistle accents.

The boutonnieres were made of orange callas with a touch of myrtle and crocosmia buds.

All packed up and ready for delivery!

The ceremony took place under the arbor with the lake in the background.  Gerberas, dahlias, snapdragons, spray roses, delphinium, thistle and bupleurum framed the space.

I love their super cute placecards.  Their ’40′s inspired details were fantastic.

I added a few floral details to the display.

The wedding programs were also waaay cool and displayed with vintage handkerchiefs.

In step with the vintage theme the centerpieces were designed in blue mason jars borrowed from a friend.  Hey, that’s something borrowed AND blue!

The couple also made the table numbers.

Don’t you just adore this cupcake display by BakeAria?!

Congratulations to Jacquelyn and Jeremy on a beautifully crafted destination wedding!  I’m sure you and your guests danced the night away to Ella Fitzgerald, relaxed on the porch and sipped mint juleps (or something equally old-timey).  I absolutely love your handcrafted, vintage style!  (Below is their save-the-date postcard designed by the groom…in case you missed it!)

Blue and White Wedding Flowers At Basin Harbor Club

Tuesday, September 6th, 2011

Andrea and Robert were married at Basin Harbor Club just one day before Hurricane Irene barreled through Vermont.  Their wedding included blue, white and green flowers for a clean, crisp palette to suit the lakeside setting.  The bride is from Vermont and her family still lives in the area, but the couple planned their destination wedding from out of state.  There was a classic, preppy style to the flower designs and it was a fantastic day for an outdoor wedding in the beautiful gardens.

The bride’s bouquet included white hydrangea, roses, ranunculus and blue nigella.

Her seven attendants wore “electric blue” dresses and the color looked great on all of the girls.

Here’s a look at the attendants’ bouquets all packed up and ready for delivery.

The ceremony took place under the arbor with an aisle lined with rose petals.

I’m pretty sure this special little chair was reserved for the ring bearer.  So cute!

Centerpieces were designed in square glass vases filled with blue and green hydrangea, two shades of blue delphinium, white roses, lavender freesia, nigella and accents of candy tuft.

Placecards were displayed on a sheet of moss with hydrangea accents tucked into miniature versions of the iconic Club chairs.

Blue hydrangea also accented the cake display.

The cocktail hour had some sweet details as well.

Specialty cocktails had special signage, too!

Congratulations to Andrea and Robert!  Despite the impending weather the day was absolutely gorgeous and so were both of you.  You were a great couple to work with…Robert is one of my grooms who gets props for being involved in the details of the planning!  I hope you enjoyed every moment of the day.

Destination Wedding At The Quechee Club

Tuesday, August 30th, 2011

Rachel and Mike tied the knot on a beautiful sumer day at The Quechee Club.  Their destination wedding had a colorful, gardeny feeling with raspberry pink, orange, yellow, green and white flowers.  The couple lives in D.C., but they met at Dartmouth College so a New England wedding was a perfect fit!

Rachel carried a bouquet of pink dahlias, roses, yellow and pink freesia, orange and white ranunculus, and mini green hydrangea tied with a raspberry pink silk dupioni ribbon.

Her six bridesmaids wore blue dresses and carried colorful bouquets similar to the bride’s with orange dahlias and white nigella.

The men wore boutonnieres of rosemary and yellow spray roses with hypericum berries.

It was a perfect Vermont day for an outdoor wedding at Murphy Farm.  Our birch chuppah helped set the scene.

Their reception at the Quechee Club also showcased a nature-inspired theme with birch centerpieces of gardeny designs including dahlias, raspberry pink roses, godetia, ranunculus, mini green hydrangea, dianthus and yellow spray roses.

Guests were greeted with a piece of fresh rosemary or hypericum berries set with their menus.

A placecard display of branches in birch containers was also in-step with the natural branchy style of the wedding.

Congratulations to Rachel and Mike on your destination wedding!  I can recall our first conversation last October and it was such a joy to see everything come together (including beautiful weather!) for your perfect day!

English Garden Style Wedding at The Essex

Tuesday, August 23rd, 2011

Nell and Michael travelled across the Atlantic for their Vermont wedding at The Essex.  The couple met in England and an English garden style was inspiration for the decor.  The bride had a color palette of peachy and creme tones with pale blues and she wanted designs that were natural and asymmetrical in shape.  They created an absolutely beautiful day for their 35 guests.

Here is a look at the 7 attendants’ bouquets and the bridal bouquet.

The bride carried white garden roses, freesia, double tulips, sweet peas, pinky-peach callas and pale blue tweedia.

Here is another shot of the bride’s garden inspired bouquet.

The bridesmaids wore periwinkle blue and carried bouquets of delphinium, callas, peach roses and yellow spray roses.

The ceremony in the garden was framed by an arbor with ivy, roses and delphinium.

The creative vision of Belinda Norris Events transformed the Atrium into an elegant dining room, pub and overall comfy space.

The table was lined with orchids, callas, roses, delphinium and floating tulips with beargrass and finished with lots of candlelight.

You can see how this classic bar from Rain or Shine Tent and Events, cocktail tables and couches made the Atrium feel welcoming.

Cheers to Nell and Michael!  It was a pleasure working with you and I look forward to seeing your professional photos from Barrie Fisher!  The day after their wedding Nell told me that Belinda, Barrie and I were part of her “Dream Team”…I’ll take that any day!

A little update…Belinda sent me this photo of the room from a different angle!  Thanks, Belinda!

What’s A Toss Bouquet?

Thursday, August 18th, 2011

A toss bouquet is a small bouquet (oftentimes a smaller version of the bride’s bouquet) that is considered a “throw away bouquet”.  We’ve all seen a bride throw a bouquet over her shoulder at the end of the night to all the single ladies as a symbol of “luck” that whoever catches the bouquet will be the next to marry.

Many brides forego this tradition, but I still make toss bouquets several times a year.  I usually place the toss bouquet on the head table or sweetheart table in a vase so the bride can swap it out to display her bridal bouquet during the reception.

Are you going to toss a bouquet at your wedding?  Did you order a toss bouquet from your floral designer?

Yellow, White and Green Wedding At The Brick House

Tuesday, August 16th, 2011

Anne & Jeanne had a beautiful, intimate summer wedding at The Brick House in Shelburne.  The color palette of yellow, white and green creates a clean and bright display of seasonal flowers with an elegant, romantic feel.

The view from The Brick House is quintessential Vermont.

The brides carried small clutch bouquets of hydrangea, freesia, sweet peas, fresh mint and roses.  Also pictured here are a yellow spray rose boutonniere with chamomile for Jeanne’s father and small gathering vase of hydrangea, roses, freesia and yarrow for the cocktail tables.

A ceremony on the lawn with the backdrop of the lake set a gorgeous scene.

The centerpieces included white & green hydrangea, yellow Asiatic lilies, ranunculus, spray roses and white & creme de la creme garden roses for a lush, romantic feel.

Gorgeous linens and rental items were provided by Vermont Tent Co. and Cloud 9 Caterers handled all the details on the scene.

Congratulations to Anne and Jeanne on your Vermont wedding!  It was the perfect day and your destination wedding came together beautifully!

“Jeanne and I wanted to thank you for putting together such beautiful arrangements – the mix of flowers were wonderful and contributed to making our wedding day very special…Again, thank you, thank you!”  -Anne & Jeanne

White Wedding Flowers At Stowe Mountain Lodge

Tuesday, August 9th, 2011

Kristen and Timothy were married in Stowe, VT with a reception at Stowe Mountain Lodge.  I can remember my first conversation with the bride when she described the style she wanted as peaceful and romantic.  I had never heard someone use the word “peaceful” to describe their wedding style and I liked it…a lot!

Elegant white blooms of roses, hydrangea and ranunculus created a look that was clean and natural for their destination wedding.  The bride carried white roses, sweet peas, lisianthus, ranunculus and stephanotis.  The stems were wrapped with lace from the bride’s dress.

This is another look at the bride’s bouquet.

Here’s a better look at the lace wrap with pearl pins and fluffy white attendants’ bouquets.

The bridesmaids wore green dresses and carried bouquets of white hydrangea, roses and ranunculus.  The flower girls and mothers also carried small clutch bouquets.

Boutonnieres and corsages were made of spray roses and stephanotis for the groom.

The eight attendants’ bouquets were packed and ready to go to Stowe!

For the reception at Stowe Mountain Lodge the centerpieces included hydrangea, roses, ranunculus, lisianthus and star of Bethlehem with aspidistra leaves to hide the stems.

The place cards were displayed in wooden trays with moss and lily grass wrapped votives.

Kristen is a teacher and her students put together an unbelievably cute collection of stories for the wedding.  Here is what one student wrote for the letter “V”.  {I personally love the “very exciting voyage into marriage” and “valuing each other’s virtues”!}

Congratulations to Kristen and Timothy on a beautiful wedding day!  It absolutely made my day to get a message from the bride on Sunday night…

“I just wanted to express our gratitude.  The flowers were absolutely beautiful and really set the scene!  Thank you for working so hard and being so dedicated!!    I loved the bouquets, centerpieces, votives, and everything!!!!”  -Kristen

White, Green, Yellow and Blue Wedding Flowers in Stowe, Vermont

Tuesday, July 19th, 2011

I truly consider myself lucky to have a job that elicits compliments on my work and thank you’s from my clients, but the biggest compliment by far is when I am hired to work on more than one wedding in a family.  I designed the flowers for the sister of the bride’s wedding in 2009 and when their mom contacted me about Stacey and Justin’s wedding at Spruce Peak in Stowe I was both flattered and excited to have the opportunity to work with the family again.

The colors for the wedding were a clean, crisp palette of whites, greens, yellows and blues.  The bride carried white lisianthus, roses, sweet peas, freesia, mini green hydrangea and fresh oregano tied with a band of green silk dupioni ribbon.

The bridesmaids wore blue dresses and carried bouquets with yellow accent tones of ranunculus and freesia.

I’m kinda loving these bouquets paired with the antique tin ceiling background.

The weather was absolutely perfect for their July wedding on the natural stone patio at Spruce Peak.

Centerpieces in birch containers were filled with white and green hydrangea, poppy pods, yellow snapdragons, spray roses, cottage yarrow, bupleurum, curly willow and blue delphinium for a fresh, summery look.

Perrin Williams of Vermont Cake Studio created a lovely display for dessert.

Wine corks greeted guests with their table number.

For their rehearsal dinner at Stowe Mountain Lodge I designed centerpieces of yellow irises, fresh mint, roses, sweet peas and green hydrangea to complement the style of the next day’s designs without giving away the entire look of the wedding.

The majority of the wedding planning was handled by the mother of the bride since the couple lives in Colorado and due to the timing of the day I never got the chance to meet the bride or the groom (crazy, I know!), but I can say that it was a genuine pleasure to have the opportunity to be a part of both daughters’ weddings!   Congrats to Stacey and Justin who had one of the most beautiful days of the summer for their outdoor ceremony.  (And congratulations to MOB, Carole, for planning two destination weddings in VT over the past few years!)  I look forward to seeing your smiling faces in pics from Kathleen Landwehrle!
