A Toad in Alison’s Garden

Friday, July 23rd, 2010

Today’s post doesn’t have anything to do with flowers, or weddings–although I do seem to recall hearing about a frog that turned into a prince–but I just love this little toad I found in my garden.  (OK, so I more stumbled upon him and was a little startled because he blended into the foliage so well, but he was nice enough to let us take a few pictures of him!)

I love his face and his eyes!

Have a great weekend everybody!  We’ll be working around the garden and harvesting some beans, cucumbers and zucchini!  What will you find in your garden?

Wonderland Inspired Party Details

Wednesday, June 23rd, 2010

One of the most frequent compliments I’ve received about my work lately from friends, brides and colleagues have been on my work with paper flowers when I helped the lovely & talented Daria Bishop with an Alice In Wonderland inspired “Mad Hatter Tea Party” for her daughter’s 12th birthday party in May.  Of all things, paper flowers!!

As you can see from her blog post (by clicking here) it was a complete and utterly adorable success.  It was a lot of fun to help with, too!  There are lots of fabulous pictures on Daria’s blog, but below are a few shots of the tabletop I swiped (Thanks, Daria!!) to give you a little taste & whet your whistle!

The hot pink blossoms in the bottles are boronia and I love the antique keys tied to their necks!  You have to love the amazing cupcakes from Vermont Sweet Tooth.  Amazing cupcakes!  I think Daria did a fabulous job and she can throw me a party anytime!

The pollinator activity in my garden is in full swing!  Check out these busy bees on my lupines yesterday afternoon…they are definitely working for the weekend!  Happy Memorial Day!

Passion Flower In Bloom

Tuesday, May 25th, 2010

There is no denying the stunning beauty of the Passion Flower.  I got a couple of shots of this beauty in bloom outside of the Hotel Marlowe in Cambridge, Mass. this weekend.  It is almost otherworldly.

VT Cows on Church Street

Thursday, May 20th, 2010

After a delicious breakfast at Penny Cluse Cafe on Sunday morning we took a stroll down Church Street in Burlington to check out these artistic cows for the Cows Come Home-Burlington!  Leunig’s, Gardener’s Supply Co, Burlington City Arts, Cabot Cheese & Shelburne Farms were a few names amoung the sponsors on the cows I photographed.  There are several more cows than I have included here so be sure to check them out in person and try to pick your favorite!

I didn’t need to look at the artist’s name to know that Katharine Monstream had her hands on this cow!  The artists created some beautiful cow-work and it’s hard to pick a favorite…I think I have 3 or 4 that are tied for 1st!  Which cow do you like the best?

Dancing Shadows from Snippet & Ink

Tuesday, March 23rd, 2010

I am seriously in love with this image.  It is so cute, romantic, fun and oh so creative!  It was posted on Snippet & Ink the other day and I could not resist sharing it here, too.

I was not able to find the original source of this photo–try as I might!
